This is one of the questions we hear most often in Krabi. Both trips offer beautiful beaches, impressive scenery and time to enjoy the sea. The right choice depends mainly on the experience you are looking for.

First: which itinerary are we comparing?

When comparing offers, check the actual itinerary. The name “Four Islands” alone is not enough: find out where the tour departs from, where it stops, which type of boat is used and what the price includes.

Here we compare the Hong Islands trip with the Four Islands trip departing from the Krabi area, as we offer them.

Hong Islands — the lagoon and scenery are at the heart of the day

Hong is particularly suitable for travellers seeking bays, turquoise water, beaches and limestone cliffs. The inner lagoon is one of the highlights, together with the island stops along the route.

The tour we offer combines Hong Island and its lagoon with Lao Lading and Pakbia Islands, with opportunities for swimming and snorkelling according to conditions and the operator’s decision.

We often recommend Hong, and many of our guests choose it following that recommendation. It is our preference when someone wants a day focused on these landscapes and bays — but that does not mean it is automatically the best tour for everyone.

Four Islands — a varied day among Krabi’s beaches

The route we offer includes the Railay area, Chicken Island, Poda and Tup. The appearance of the sandbar around Tup depends on the tide.

This itinerary suits travellers who want to combine several of Krabi’s best-known landscapes, with stops for the beach, swimming and snorkelling according to the day’s programme.

So which one should you choose?

Want to see Hong Lagoon and the bays along that route? Hong is the natural choice.

Drawn to Poda, Chicken Island and the Tup sandbar? Choose Four Islands.

Visitor numbers, sea conditions and underwater visibility change. We therefore cannot promise an empty beach or a fixed number of snorkelling stops. The number of boats on a particular day is not, by itself, a reliable measure of which tour is right for you.

Tell us who is joining, what you enjoy and what you have already seen in Thailand, and we will help you choose the day that suits you.
